The Process of Cat Mating

The Process of Cat Mating

The menstrual cycle of the female cats is produced during two or three times a year to ten or more; the usual is the first.

When living free, these cycles normally present themselves at the first half of the year; it is believed that they are determined by the longer duration of the days. Female cats in a fertile age that live inside a house can be sexually active at any time of the year.

In the first stage of the cycle, that lasts up too ten days if the females ovulates but doesn’t mate and half if she does, the ovary produces female sexual hormones that, combined with the stretching and the movements denominated lordosis, as with the continuous meowing, attracts whole males (non sterilized).

These get near, spraying urine on the territory and marking it. With its odor, they emit their own courtine meowing and fight between them for the right of mating the female.

The female cat chooses and, if any male exceeds itself, she sends him for a walk with blows and grunts.

The young males that haven’t learned yet the rules of the game can suffer serious injuries in these confrontations.

Curiously, the dominant male doesn’t always stay with the female or those who have more experience. The female cats seem to have their own taste and are incomprehensible for us.

After the female has accepted to mate with a male; a process that can last during hours if they don’t know each other; the coupling is fast and with determination. The male gets on her, penetrates and holds her by the neck with its teeth. Then he escapes quickly to avoid being attacked. In spite of the initial resistance of the female, she can copulate once and again with the same male until this last is exhausted. She can also mate with another male or with several until the heat ends. Likewise, the male can go and look for other females in heat.

Pack Leader
The female or male that presides over the hierarchy structure has the tight to the best roles to sleep and for giving to birth, in the case of the females, as of the best hunting zones.

After resolving these questions, cats integrate to their groups in a relative calmness and cordiality until another stranger comes.

The social structure of wild cats depends on the sexual activity and doesn’t permit the infiltration of castrated intrudes or sterilized.

Sterilizes domestic cats that are lost or have been abandoned don’t have any possibility on integrating these communities and are condemned to a lonely existence and to suffer numerous hostilities.
