The Cat's New Home

The Cat’s New Home

Whelps must not go from hand-to-hand of other people until they are at least ten weeks old, although the ideal is twelve.

They should know how to use the sand tray they must have had almost all of their vaccinations and, following the advice of the veterinary, to be completely wormed.

They must have a medical chart card, overall of their vaccines that should include their reinforcement dose. Of course, it is the owner’s responsibility to be sure that people who will love and care adopt the kittens for them.

In the case of pedigree kittens, they have to be registered in the correspondent organization (which should be done from the sixth week). Then, when handing them to another person, they can take the pedigreed certificate with them as a petition for the changing of owner.

The owners of studs sometimes have the rights over the whelps engender by them, as of staying with one of them, condition that must be written on the mating contract and that you have to respect. Kittens are nervous on their first day at their new homes, but they usually don’t present any kind of serious symptoms by the anguish.

The mother misses them at the beginning, but it is recommended that to compensate their absence you give her more attention and love for a few days. What is surprising is, that after a period of separation she doesn’t recognize any of its whelps.
