We had been planning on having an outdoor cat enclosure built when someone mentioned to us that giving your cat an outdoor cat enclosure could be bad for it. I think that they were under the impression that the cat might feel like we didn’t love it anymore and so were putting it outside. I don’t believe that our cat would find an outdoor cat enclosure a form of punishment though. He spends most of his time outdoors anyway and only co mes in when he needs something or wants to be fed. I remember a cat named Tom The Gangster that I had when I was a child. I was 8 years old and living with my parents and brothers and sisters in a trailer at the time. One day my Dad came home with a jet black male kitten. At the time we didn’t know that it was a male as it was tiny and I was still a novice when it came to cats. Well that little guy grew and grew and we just loved having him around. That guy got big, handsome and ever so black and no one could ever bring themselves to stay mad at him for too long. Until one time he stole a leg of lamb right off of the kitchen counter and wouldn’t give it back to my mum. Well after that my parents insisted that we put him in an outdoor cat enclosure but I really didn’t want to, as I thought it not appropriate for a cat like him. Well one day he just up and took care of the problem himself… we never saw him again. After speaking with my friend and remembering what had happened with Tom we decided that an outdoor cat enclosure was just not the way to go.
