An Adequate Cat Diet

A diet rich on proteins that are easy to digest is the best for old cats; you may enrich it with vitamins and minerals if the veterinary aggress.

Be careful of not increasing at your fancy the dose of nourishing complements, because excess is almost as bad as the lack of them.

With age, some cats are no more capable of having two daily rations of food, for which you will try to divide them in three of four smaller portions. Anyways, the usual is for cats to show a good appetite at all times, even if they are eating less.

Pay attention for if your cat has any difficulty when eating. Due that old cats tend to suffer from mouth diseases, specially the gingivitis or gum inflammations.

The loss of appetite can be a symptom of renal failure, typical disorder in old cats. For this reason, at this stage of their live, even more than when they were young, you have to try that the cat drinks enough liquids, moistening, if necessary, the food to increase its water contents.

Another common problem is the bladder dysfunction, as the capacity to control its intestines and the diabetes.
